Officials say emergency earthen levees built in Pierre and Fort Pierre are working as intended as water from the Missouri River nears its expected crest. Record amounts of water are being released from Missouri River dams to get rid of water from heavy rains upstream in the basin. Eris Stasch of the Army Corps of Engineers says he expects the water level to rise only a few inches when the final increase in water flow is made tomorrow.
